Firefox is a great browser, but it can be a little slow when it starts up. Sometimes, when Firefox closes, it leaves behind some of its history. This can slow down your browsing experience and make it difficult to get back to what you were doing. To clear out your Firefox history automatically, you can use the following steps:
- Open Firefox and click on the three lines in the top left corner of the main window. This will open a menu with options like “History” and “Cookies.”
- In the “History” section, select “Clear History.” This will remove all of the history from Firefox that was created since you last used it.
- In the “Cookies” section, select “Delete Cookies.” This will delete all of the cookies that Firefox has stored on your computer.
Do you share a computer with other family members or friends, or with co-workers at a workplace? When surfing the web in Firefox, you may not want the next person to use the computer to know what sites you have visited.
Firefox allows you to automatically clear different types of history when you close the browser. The settings are quick and easy to change. To begin, select Options from the Firefox menu.
NOTE: You can select Options either on the main Firefox menu or on the Options submenu.
On the Options dialog box, click Privacy on the toolbar at the top. Select Use custom settings for history from the Firefox will drop-down list.
More options display under the drop-down list. You can select what types of history Firefox remembers and whether Firefox accepts cookies from sites. You can also manage cookies from this dialog box.
To automatically clear your web history when you close Firefox, select the Clear history when Firefox closes check box. Click the Settings button that becomes available.
The Settings for Clearing History dialog box displays. In the History box, select the type of history that you want cleared when you close Firefox. You can also have Firefox automatically clear other types of data, such as Saved Passwords and Site Preferences. Click OK once you have made your choices.
Click OK on the Options dialog box to close it and save your changes.
Now, you don’t have to worry about clearing your web history, such as downloads and cookies. Once you are finished with your Firefox session and you close the browser, the selected types of history will be cleared.
