If you’re like most people, you use your computer for work, entertainment, and other important tasks. But sometimes you need to do something that doesn’t require the full power of your computer. For example, maybe you want to resize a photo or download a file from the internet. In this article, we’ll show you five fast ways to resize windows 10, change the default download location, roast coffee at home, and more.
- Use the Windows 10 File Manager. This is probably the most common way to resize or change files on a computer. To use it, open the File Manager by clicking on the Start button and typing “file manager” into the search bar. Once it’s open, click on “Computer” in the left column and then click on “Local Disk (C:)” in the right column. Next, double-click on an empty space inside of “Local Disk (C:)” to open it in explorer mode. Now you can see all of your files and folders inside of it. To resize or change a file, just drag and drop it onto one of the icons next to its name in explorer mode.
- Use Windows 10’s built-in tools. If you don’t want to use Windows 10’s file manager or tools, there are other ways to do it too. For example, you can use Windows 10’s built-in tools for pictures and videos by clicking on “File” in the start menu and then clicking on “Photos” or “Videos.” Next, click on an image or video that you want to resize or change and then click on “Resize.” You can also use Windows 10’s built-in tools for documents by clicking on “File” in the start menu and then clicking on “Documents.” Next, click on an document that you want to resize or change and then click on “Resize.”

Quickly Resize Any Windows with Sizer
Kalpesh wrote in with not one but two great tips. The first one helps when you want to quickly resize windows to set sizes:
We took Sizer for a spin. It’s tiny and delivers as promised. Run the application and anytime you right click on the lower right corner of an application window you’ll see a menu like the one in the screenshot above. It comes with those three values as defaults but you can right click on the system tray icon for Sizer and edit the sizes, remove them, and add in new ones.
Change the Default Location for Your Download Folder
Here’s Kalpesh’s second tip:
Thanks for the two-for-one special Kalpesh; both tips are quite useful.
Open your registry editor (go to the run box and type regedit) then navigate to this registry entry: “Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders” Look for the entry which has a value of “%USERPROFILE%\Downloads” and change the value to your location. In my case I changed it to “D:\Downloads”. Now you don’t have to worry about programs not remembering your alternate download location as the default value is where you want your files.
