Windows 8 has a new notification system that is different from the one used in previous versions of the Windows operating system. This new notification system is called “Notification Center.” The Notification Center is a central location where you can see all of your notifications. You can control how many notifications are shown at a time, and you can hide or show notifications by using the charms on your keyboard or mouse. You can also set a time limit for when a notification should be shown, and you can set up rules to determine when specific notifications should be shown. For example, you might want to show notifications only when there is an email message in your Inbox, or only when there are new calls from your contacts. If you want to stop all notifications from being sent to your device, you can do this by using the “Notification Settings” app on your device.

By default notifications in Windows 8 are set to display for 5 seconds, however, you may want them to stay around for a bit longer.

How Change the Duration of Notifications

Press the Win + X keyboard combination, or right click in the bottom left hand corner of your screen to open the WinX menu, then launch Control Panel.

Now head into the Ease of Access section.

Then click on the Ease of Access Center link.

Now click on the “Make it easier to focus on tasks” link.

Here you will be able to adjust how long Windows keeps notifications open for.

That’s all there is to it.
