Acoustic panels are a great way to add sound insulation and soundproofing to your home or office. They are also approved by an acoustic engineer, so you can be sure they will provide the desired results. Here are four ways to cheaply install acoustic panels:
- Use foam panels. Foam acoustic panels are a great option if you want to install them quickly and cheaply. All you need is some foam sheets and a drill. Simply cut the foam sheets to the desired size, drill holes in them, and screw them into place using screws or nails.
- Use drywall anchors. If you want to install acoustic panels in a more permanent way, consider using drywall anchors instead of screws or nails. Just drill holes in the wall near where you want the acoustic panel to go, then insert the anchors into the holes and screw or nail the panel into place.
- Use soundproofing tape. Another cheap way to install acoustic panels is by using soundproofing tape. Just peel off a piece of tape and stick it onto the wall near where you want the panel to go. Then use another piece of tape to cover up the first piece of tape, creating a seal that will prevent noise from leaking outwards from the panel ..
Eric Wolfram’s guide over at AcousticsFREQ details the why and where of panel deployment, how to pick the right core and cover material for your panels, and walks you through constructing the actual panels. It’s an interesting read, thanks to Eric’s in-depth knowledge of the subject, even if you’re not planning on rushing out to build the panels this weekend. Hit up the link below for the full guide.
